Construction began in 1804 and was completed in 1896.
On the exterior, its towers stand tall at 40 meters and are supported by a solid portico with three Gothic arches. The towers consist of three hexagonal sections.
At the main entrance, you can admire a semi-circular arch flanked by two half-columns, each supporting sculptures of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. The entrance door is made of natural cedar wood.
The temple has a single nave and takes the form of a Latin cross. Above the crossing, there is a beautiful octagonal dome with eight windows that illuminate the central part of the building.
Inside the vault, there is a temple mural depicting a passage from the Apocalypse, painted in the late 19th century.
The main altar, made of fine wood, features a huge crucifix. In the semi-dome, the image of Our Lady of the Assumption, the patroness of the cathedral, shines. The sacristy has an octagonal floor plan and a round vault, with a star-shaped medallion at its center.
