The 18th-century building has an original façade with a clear Baroque style.

During the Mexican Revolution, it changed to French Neoclassical, and its windows display the monogram J.L.P.

It showcases a collection of European furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as various antiques.

The museum hosts concerts, conferences, and several temporary exhibitions.
