Built as a residential house in the late 18th century with lime and stone, it is a clear example of colonial architecture.

This building was intended for the "Teniente del Rey," a diplomatic title granted by the King of Spain from 1745 onwards. 

Later, it passed into the hands of one of the city's inhabitants, and it currently functions as the Regional Museum of the state of Campeche.

The first level has 11 rooms, a colonial-style bathroom, and kitchen, while the upper floor houses three rooms, as well as a cloister surrounded by semi-circular arches. 

The main facade is adorned with two Tuscan columns, and on the upper floor, there are beautiful balconies with elaborate wrought-iron railings. 

The museum offers eight exhibition spaces on the ground floor, showcasing a selection of pieces, utensils, tools, and various objects that cover the most important aspects of the region since its pre-Hispanic era. 

This collection includes a beautiful stone piece from the Calakmul archaeological site. 

The second floor is dedicated to the colonial period. Here, explanatory and chronological paintings, weapons, documents, a model indicating the appearance of the fortification that once surrounded the city, a brief exhibition of religious art, and finally, a space highlighting the indigenous resistance against Spanish rule and the War of the Castes are displayed.
