The Old House is a French-influenced building acquired in the late 18th century by Intendant José Ma. Anzorena.

This figure is known for signing the first decree of Abolition of Slavery in 1810. 

The house was restored in 1897 and since 1922 it has housed the offices of the Legislative Branch.
