This building is also known as the House of the Vaults.

It was constructed between 1684 and 1685 by the architect Diego de la Sierra, who was known for his Baroque constructions.

From 1813, more importance was given to the arts, and intellectuals in Puebla promoted the creation of the School of Fine Arts, which was established in 1824 and housed in this building.

Throughout its history, important artists have been part of the school, such as Lorenzo Zendejas, Agustín Arrieta, José Manzo, José Zacarías Cora, Daniel Dávila, and the architect and engraver José Manzo, among others.

The Academy operated until 1973, and its collection was acquired by the Autonomous University of Puebla and safeguarded by the José María Lafragua Historical Library.

The house is one of the examples of Puebla Baroque architecture, with a two-story facade composed of gray quarry stone, brickwork, and mosaic.
