Acueducto de Morelia
The Aqueduct is considered one of the most beautiful in the country and an icon of the city.
In the Baroque style, it consists of 253 arches reaching a height of almost 8 meters and has a length of about 1,700 meters.
Its construction was ordered by Bishop Fray Antonio de San Miguel in 1785, serving to provide drinking water to the city and to employ the indigenous population. The aqueduct was in operation until 1910.
This aqueduct replaced three previous aqueducts that did not withstand the test of time, with the first one dating back to 1549.
It is very well preserved and largely retains its original structure.
