The Old Granary was built in 1774 in a Baroque style, it served as a wheat storage facility for the city.
Its façade exhibits eclectic style, making it a unique construction in a predominantly Baroque Historic Center.
Inside, there are murals depicting the War of Independence and some passages of the struggle by Morelia's prodigal son, José María Morelos y Pavón.
In 1847, it was adapted to expand the state penitentiary, which has given rise to many urban legends.
It currently serves as an extension of the Palace of Justice, housing the Civil Courts of the Capital.
