Pueblo del Maíz
It's a different option for cultural recreation, as it is a pre-Hispanic park that offers a unique approach to the history of the island, which was an important cultural, religious, and commercial center for the Mayans.
One of the first experiences you'll have in this unique place is an encounter with a shaman who appears amidst copal smoke.
There are several interactive activities in different palapas:
At Hunal-ye, you have the opportunity to learn how to make tortillas and then savor them with regional salsa.
At Xunan kab, you learn about the importance of the region's melipona bee in honey production.
There's another palapa dedicated to cacao, where you learn how to prepare chocolate.
At Soskil, you discover the manufacturing of various products made from henequen fibers.
In another palapa, you learn the art of featherwork to create various offerings and garments.
The park has a souvenir shop, as well as various products made by Mayan communities.
