Cancun Underwater Museum of Art (MUSA)
It is located off the coast of Cancún, in the Marine Park between Punta Cancún and Punta Nizuc. It has has over 500 life-size sculptures used to promote coral life, all sitting on the bottom of the ocean, no deeper than 20 feet/7 meters, and accessed only by scuba diving, snorkeling or adventuring via glass bottom boat. Each sculpture is inspired by real people in the community.
All the sculptures were placed near the natural reefs in order to create an artificial habitat that helps preserve the beauty of the reef and its corals.
This project is unique and proposes the fusion of art with environmental conservation on a large scale and is divided into three galleries.
Punta Nizuc
It is located south of the hotel zone of Cancun, it is 13 feet/4 meters deep, making it suitable for diving and snorkeling.
Punta Sam
It has impressive sculptures such as Blessings and is located in an area surrounded by seagrasses, in a depth of 11 feet/ 3.5 meters.
Salón Manchones
It is located off the coast of Isla Mujeres and is 26 feet/8 meters deep, so it is recommended only for diving.
