Mexican Museum of Design (MUMEDI)
It is located in a beautiful building that used to belong to the Count of Our Lady of Guadalupe del Peñasco, Don Francisco Mora y Luna, whose facade dates back to the 18th century.
The building, with a long history, was constructed on top of Hernán Cortés' Palace, using part of the pyramid of Aztec Emperor Huehue Moctezuma Ilhuicaina as its foundation.
The building itself, over 400 years old, is an example of design incorporating innovative, visual, and unique ideas.
This museum was born as part of Álvaro Rego García de Alba's desire to create a space that integrates design into Mexico's rich history over the years.
Its collections are variable and consist of objects such as bags, jewelry, and other items found in its five areas.
It has a cafeteria where you can admire paintings, posters, some objects that are even for sale, and also acquire interesting books and magazines about Graphic and Industrial Design.
You can also visit MUMEDIShop, which offers a wide selection of objects from various Mexican designers, and as a unique peculiarity, it has a boutique hotel.
It is a gallery concept that is open to all types of audiences and constantly announces calls to participate in poster, art, object, and piece intervention competitions.
Here you can find books on design, fashion, interior design, jewelry design, urban art, illustration, typography, photography, and art toys, among others.
