Kaluz Museum
This is one of the latest museums inaugurated in Mexico City.
It is housed in one of the most iconic buildings in the city center, dating back to the 16th century, the Former Santo Tomás de Villanueva Hospice. The building, which was the famous Hotel de Cortés for much of the 20th century, has been extensively restored to its former splendor.
The museum offers a program of multi-themed exhibitions where each exhibition creates a dialogue with all visitors, covering topics of culture, history, and society.
Among the museum's collection, the Kaluz Collection stands out, which includes landscapes, still lifes, and genre scenes from the 18th to the 21st century. These pieces were collected by Don Antonio del Valle Ruíz, who sought to recover and preserve Mexico's artistic heritage. The collection includes works by Armando García Núñez, Francisco Romano Guillemín, Joaquín Clausell, Jorge González Camarena, Roberto Montenegro, Guillermo Gómez Mayorga, and José Castro Leñero, to name a few.
Additionally, the museum offers spaces for temporary exhibitions, concerts, conferences, projection rooms, and an auditorium.
One of the standout elements in the museum is the Vicente Rojo Mural, which was part of the building's exterior restoration project.
The museum provides guided tours and features a shop, a restaurant, a bar, a library, and meeting rooms.
