Museo de Medicina Tradicional y Herbolaria

The Traditional and Herbal Medicine Museum is housed in an estate acquired by Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg in 1865, in the traditional town of Acapatzingo.

It is currently located in the Ethonobotanical Garden and Museum of Traditional Medicine and Herbal Medicine of the National Institute of Anthropology and History.

The museum boasts the largest collection of medicinal plants in Mexico and an exceptionally beautiful historical building.

The Ethonobotanical Garden features over 800 different plants organized into various collections, including the National Collection of Medicinal Plants, Collection of Food and Spice Plants, Collection of Orchids, Collection of Cacti, Collection of Deciduous Lowland Jungle, and Ornamental Collection.

In addition, they offer free thematic workshops aimed at the general public, especially elementary and professional education teachers.

The Botanical Garden also conducts guided tours upon request.
