The Museum of Geology and Mineralogy content is a representative sample of minerals and rocks from different regions of the country and some from abroad.

It houses over two thousand specimens of rocks and minerals, including a section on Historical Geology.

It is located at Ciudad Universitaria, in the building of the Materials Laboratory of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo.
