Museo de Arquitectura Maya, Baluarte de la Soledad

Baluarte de la Soledad

The Maya Architecture Museum is located in the old rooms of the ancient Baluarte de La Soledad, which dates back to 1692.

Making it one of the oldest in New Spain.

It was the third bastion of the city's defensive system, as well as one of the most important due to its proximity to the Puerta de Mar.

On one side, it still preserves a part of the wall, the patrol path, battlements, and watchtowers.

Museo de Arquitectura Maya (Maya Architecture Museum)

The museum has a collection of pieces and objects rescued from various archaeological sites throughout the state of Campeche, such as Xcocha, Acanmul, Cayal, Edzná, Xcalumkin, Xuloc, among others.

Among the most interesting pieces are examples of Maya sculpture, lintels from Knakí and Dzibilnocac, and columns from Xcalumkín, Cansacbé, and Santa Rosa Xtampac.

On one side of the courtyard, there is a ramp that leads to the top of the building, offering a spectacular view of the city and the sea.
