Museo del Tequila y el Mezcal (MUTEM)
The building that houses it is of minimalist and modern style, contrasting with the surrounding constructions.
It is a place that combines a dynamic and versatile cultural space, showcasing the history and production process of two beverages that have given us identity worldwide.
The museum offers exhibitions, gatherings, concerts, conferences, and presentations of various agave spirits and gastronomy in general.
The museum is located on the first floor, with an interesting exhibition about tequila and mezcal production. It also tells the history of the mariachi and Plaza Garibaldi, one of the most iconic places in Mexico City's Historic Center.
The collection includes over 300 bottles of tequila and mezcal.
There is also a cantina where you can taste a wide variety of tequilas and mezcals.
Another incredible feature of this museum is the terrace, where a restaurant-bar is located, offering a great selection of Mexican cuisine dishes. Additionally, it provides a panoramic view of Plaza Garibaldi and other representative buildings of the Historic Center, such as the Torre Latinoamericana and the Cathedral, among many others.
There is a shop where you can purchase various agave spirits, including tequilas or mezcals from small producers who craft their beverages traditionally, as well as products from major brands.
