This is a Flora and Fauna Protection Area with 2,521,776 hectares, it covers a third of the surface of the state of Baja California and is the second largest in the country, only behind El Vizcaíno.
The Valley has mountainous terrain and is basically made up of deserts with large expanses of cirios. The most notable mountain systems in the north of Valle de los Cirios are the Sierras de La Asamblea and Calamajué.
What is special about Valle de los Cirios
It is very important due to its high level of endemism with species of cacti, reptiles and mammals. Within the Natural Area there are about 664 species of plants, 215 of birds, 53 mammals and 53 reptiles.
