This picturesque place offers incredible views of Popocatépetl volcano.
At its highest point stands the Ex-Convent of Our Lady of the Assumption, which resembles a real fortress. Its atrium is surrounded by a battlemented wall. The façade is sober and features an open chapel, a tower, and a bell gable.
The cloister has columns surrounding a central courtyard where a fountain can be found. Here, you can see remnants of mural decorations, mainly in red.
There is an old aqueduct with an octagonal fountain in the square. At the top of one of the pillars, there is a shield indicating its origin in the 16th century.
On the way, you will find another aqueduct from the 19th century, located near the Santa Rosa Chapulapa hacienda.
The celebration of Day of the Dead is a tradition here.
It is located about 16 km from Atlixco.
