The lagoon is 1,900 meters long by 1,600 meters wide. Its blue-green waters have a gentle slope with variable depths. 

On the shore of the lagoon there are typical restaurants where you can savor a wide variety of dishes and stews based on fish such as mojarra, white fish, bass, tilapia and carp.

When visiting the lagoon you can also visit the historic center of the town of the same name and "Los Mártires" square. You can also visit the town of Tepeltitic, which is located on the shores of the lagoon and has a picturesque boardwalk, ideal for watching sunsets.
