Located in the Sierra Madre Oriental, in the southern part of Nuevo León.
Rayones is surrounded by a great variety of natural beauty.
It is a picturesque town with cobbled streets, a beautiful square, and the Temple of San Miguel Arcángel, dating back to the 18th century.
In front of the Municipal Auditorium, there is an attractive mural called "Canto de vida y esperanza de Rayones" (Song of Life and Hope of Rayones), created as a tribute to the painter Pablo O'Higgins.
In its surroundings, you will find orchards and the Pilos and Casillas rivers. These landscapes are ideal for enjoying nature and having picnics.
Among the natural attractions are:
Cañón de los Míreles (Míreles Canyon), ideal for canyoning, located only 3 km from Rayones' main square. Along the way, you can see fossils and spectacular geological formations.
Cañón El Tragadero (The Swallowing Canyon), where a large amount of water flows with great force. It features several water springs with different rock formations and pools. Along the way, there are several camping spots surrounded by tree-filled landscapes. During the rainy season, Ancón Waterfall is formed.
Other natural wonders surrounding Rayones include the El Tragadero Tourist Corridor and the waterfalls of El Ancon, Punto de Amarillo, and El Alamar.
