FAMOUS FOR THE SAN MARCOS FAIR AN EVENT FULL OF JOY, MUSIC AND COLOR

The city of Aguascalientes covers an area of 5,589 square kilometers.

Taking a stroll through the City of Aguascalientes is an opportunity to discover the architecture of Refugio Reyes, the sobriety of the Morelos Theater, the generosity of the Plaza de Armas and its Government Palaces - both municipal and state, the renewed image of the Arquitos, as well as the Art Nouveau style of certain central buildings and the endearing aroma of traditional neighborhoods such as Estación, El Encino, San Marcos, and Guadalupe.

Aguascalientes is the home of the Feria Nacional de San Marcos, which is known by many as the Fair of Fairs; it is the most important festival in the city and throughout the entire Mexican Republic. Its facilities are top-notch and cover a large area, originating in the San Marcos Garden and the temple of the same name. This celebration dates back to the 17th century.

The fair lasts for three weeks and usually takes place during the second half of April and the first half of May. There is livestock, agricultural, commercial, and industrial exhibitions. Numerous bullfights featuring top-tier bullfighters are held, and free popular shows take place at the San Marcos Bullring and the Aguascalientes Theater. In the San Marcos Garden, people enjoy the popular fair, accompanied by traditional music bands and delicious Mexican street food. At the Villa Charra, there are charreadas (Mexican rodeo events) and folk dances.

The climate in the region throughout the year varies: semi-dry temperate in 82 percent of the area, temperate subhumid with summer rains, and semi-dry semi-warm in the rest of the territory, with average annual temperatures ranging between 17ºC and 20ºC.
