The lagoon is a small estuary that covers approximately 2,330 hectares, and most of its depth is less than 2 meters.
It is located near Catemaco, and you can travel by boat through the mangroves, admiring the estuaries, rivers, sand dunes, as well as the great diversity of orchids and shrubs. The merging of fresh and saltwater creates beautiful landscapes and the possibility for your boat ride to end at the coast.
The lagoon is home to a large number of birds, including black hawks, bare-throated tiger herons, and ducks. You can also find howler monkeys, neotropical otters, Morelet's crocodiles, green iguanas, lizards, and blue crabs, among other species.
There are some local establishments that offer delicious seafood dishes.
