It is the main square of Coyoacán.

It is also one of the typical places in the neighborhood of Coyoacán, where you can see balloon sellers, street performers, shoe shiners, bubble vendors, and sometimes dancers.

It features a statue of Miguel Hidalgo and a beautiful French-style kiosk with a stained glass dome that was a gift from Porfirio Díaz for the centennial celebration of the country's independence.

You can also see the building known as the House of Cortés, built in the 18th century, which houses the offices of the Delegation and the Parish of San Juan Bautista.

Some of the most important events in Coyoacán take place here, such as the Day of the Dead celebration, the tamale fair, some concerts, and, of course, the Independence Day shout. Additionally, it is the starting point for the Turibus.
