The cave is located in Villa Luz and is of great interest to researchers, including geologists and biologists, due to its sulfur formations and the various species that have adapted to living in total darkness, such as the strange blind fish and insects that inhabit it. 

During Holy Week, one of the most important cultural events in the region takes place here: the traditional pre-Hispanic dance called "Pesca de la Sardina" (Sardine Fishing).
