It is one of the most impressive and highest mountains in the region with an approximate height of 350 m. 

It has become one of the favorite places for hiking. The hike to get to the top is of medium difficulty and takes about an hour and a half from Higuera Blanca. 

When you get to the top you can fully enjoy an incomparable 360º view of the bay, including the Punta Mita peninsula and the Marietas Islands.  

There are several legends regarding its name but according to the locals it is due to the totems that were found in the area and that had representations of monkeys. It is believed that these figures belonged to the ancient inhabitants of the region.
