It's an enigmatic place surrounded by legends. Its name comes from the fact that when there is a lot of sun, the silhouette of a crocodile is formed on the slope of one side of the cenote, and the luminosity on the rock gives it a golden color.
Visitors can swim or venture into the jungle with a guide to explore some of the nearby caves.
The cenote is surrounded by a series of hills with steep cliffs, and there is a 75-meter high cliff where the more daring can practice rappelling.
