DIVING CONDITIONS IN SAN CARLOS :
This bay is internationally recognized for its excellent conditions for diving. The water temperatures are warm during the summer, 27-31º C (80-88º F) and during the winter the ocean temperature varies between 12 and 15º C (57-59º F). Its waters are crystal clear and it offers spectacular underwater landscapes made up of cliffs and caves. In addition, you have to consider the richness of its marine life.
BEST PLACES TO DIVE IN SAN CARLOS :
San Pedro Nolasco Island
Off the coast of this island you can dive accompanied by seals and sea lions, as well as manta rays, turtles and the occasional whale shark. It is located one hour from San Carlos.
El Himalaya
It has a hollow rock with a channel almost 10 m (33 ft) deep that in certain months serves as a reproductive home for some marine organisms and is considered one of the most beautiful places in Sonora. It is one of the favorite places for divers due to its biodiversity, including a great diversity of aquatic plants. In addition, the visibility is very good due to the transparency of its waters. It is located 91 km, approximately an hour and a half from Guaymas.
Artificial Reefs
These reefs consist of a tuna boat known as the “Albatun,” almost 180 feet long; and very close, in front of the Las Barajitas Canyon, is the "Presidente Díaz Ordaz", a 330-foot-long ferry, which in addition to being a tourist attraction serves to house colonies of different species of marine flora and fauna. Located just 30 minutes from San Carlos and 20 m (65 ft) deep.
