Templo de Porta Coelli
In this space, a college founded in August 1603 by the Dominican Order was located.Â
Fray Servando Teresa de Mier stayed here. He dared to present a version of the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe that differed from the official one, which led to his imprisonment in the Inquisition building. The building dates back to 1711.
A colonial legend is associated with this temple: that of the "Black Christ." It is said that the image suddenly underwent a transformation and turned black when kissed by a knight who was deceived into ingesting poison offered by a friend. This miracle saved the pious man's life.
