CELAYA
You can try differente hikes in the surroundings of the city with a series of ravines and natural beauties that you can discover.
DOLORES HIDALGO
Peña Alta
It is located 10 km west of San Diego de la Unión and 40 minutes from Dolores Hidalgo. Here the wooded vegetation with pines and oaks predominates.
There are several trails to enjoy nature. There are also camping areas and you can enjoy horseback riding and fishing.
There are also grills, palapas and cabins.
Sierra del Cubo
Explore the Sierra del Cubo, the maximum height reaches 2960 meters above sea level. It's a good option with some trails that lead to some engravings and petroglyphs near the community known as San Andrés del Cubo. It is located very close to San Felipe, 50 minutes from Dolores Hidalgo.
GUANAJUATO
You can take a tour around the historic city and climb one of the surrounding hills to enjoy a panoramic view.
Hiking in Guanajuato
Cerro de la Bufa
The Cerro de la Bufa in Guanajuato has some trails that you can walk and the best time to visit is from May to November. This is a good place for rappelling.
Llano Largo – Presa El Peralillo
This is another option for a nice hiking, with a trail surrounded by an enchanting oak forests.
Xúmu Ecological Park
It is located in an ecological reserve with a large number of oak trees only 15 minutes from the city of Guanajuato.
Regularly in the morning there is fog and that is where its name comes from, which in Purépecha means “place of fog”.
It is one of the favorite places in the region for hiking.
JALPA DE CÁNOVAS
The landscapes that surround Jalpa de Cánovas, covered with laurel and pirules trees, offer many possibilities for those who like hiking.
LEÓN
El Cañón de Alfaro
It is located 40 minutes from the city of León, it offers trails where you will enjoy the pristine nature. The landscape offers oak trees, cacti and organs, among other plants, and the best season to visit is from March to October.
SALAMANCA
Siete Luminarias
The tour of the Seven Luminaries in the Santiago Valley, is quite interesting, since you can get to know each one of them: La Alberca, Blanca, Rincón de Parangueo, Ortiz, Álvarez, Cíntora and La Batea, each with its unique characteristics.
SALVATIERRA
The surroundings of Salvatierra have some trails that run along the banks of the Lerma River.
SAN JOSÉ ITURBIDE
Salto en San José Iturbide
El Salto in San José de Iturbide has beautiful trails that lead to a waterfall, it only has water during the rainy season.
Parque El Peral
It is located in the municipality of San José de Iturbide and is an ideal place to enjoy relaxing walks along its trails, springs, waterfalls and caves, surrounded by wooded landscapes.
It is always advisable to do these walks with a guide.
El Salto Vacation Center
This experience includes walking along the natural paths of the town of Tierra Blanca located in the northeastern part of Guanajuato.
Two routes are offered here, one of 2 km and the other of 3 km. The route leads to the top of the hill that has a height of 80-meter (262 feet), from where you can see how the intrepid adventurers take off by paragliding or hang gliding.
Additionally, you can enjoy excellent panoramic views.
SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE
Cañon del Águila de Cola Roja
In San Miguel Adventure Park there are hikes to the Red-tailed Eagle Canyon where you can explore beautiful forests and springs at the bottom of the canyon.
It is located on the north slope of Cerro de Los Picachos.
Cerro de Los Picachos
You can enjoy nature with a walk to the hill of Los Picachos with the wonderful landscapes of San Miguel de Allender and its surroundings. On this route you can enjoy interpretive hiking and get to know the ecosystem of the area with semi-desert vegetation.
There are route options for people of all ages and physical abilities.
