This is a typical Tarahumara community with a simple 18th century stone church built as a part of a Jesuit mission.
It is surrounded by valleys with numerous rock formations named as suggested by the imagination of the inhabitants as: mushrooms, frogs, elephants, etc.
The Arareko lake has an area of 40 ha. and is framed by a wooded landscape of pine and oak. The water mirror has an intense blue color that contrasts with the surrounding greenery.
The place has cabins and a camping area and you can rent bicycles, boats and horses. It is also an excellent place for hiking, since you can walk some paths that lead to other beautiful places such as the Rukiraso Waterfall. You can also enjoy bird watching, as there are hundreds of different species that you can admire.
