COLONIAL SPLENDOR IN A MOUNTAIN TOWN

Located in the western part of the state of Hidalgo, 135 km from Pachuca and only 98 km from Querétaro, this magical town is considered one of the most beautiful settlements in central Mexico, thanks to its majestic quarry constructions and tree-lined squares.

Its history dates back to the pre-Hispanic era and played an important role in the War of Independence.

Its traditions are reflected in its diverse crafts such as carpets, flower pots, textiles, pottery, and basketry.

In addition to its charm, it is surrounded by attractive natural beauty and several spas.

It is located 127 km (2 hours) from Pachuca and 170 km (2 and a half hours) from Mexico City.

Zaragoza Garden

Walking through its cobbled streets is a journey back in time, starting with Zaragoza Garden, the heart of the town adorned with fountains and trees and surrounded by traditional arcades.

Religious Architecture

Notable landmarks include the Parish of San Mateo Apóstol, the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Chapel of the Third Order, and El Chapitel, where the first cry of Independence was commemorated.

Archaeology and History Museum

The museum tells the history of Huichapan through its five rooms, from pre-Hispanic times to the present day, including the Colonial era, Independence, and the Revolution.

It features some pictorial works by authors such as Manuel Chávez Nava, Máximo Pacheco, Tiburcio Sánchez, and José Escudero.

Guided tours are available from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
