For fishing lovers the Guadalupe Victoria and Peña de Aguila dams are ideal. Here you can catch carp, crappie, black bass, ferret and catfish. Both are located just half an hour from the city of Durango.
Another dam where important tournaments have also been held is the Santiago Bayacora Dam, known for being one of the best places for bass fishing. It is located less than an hour from the city of Durango.
At the Puentecillas Ecotourism Center you can also practice fishing and canoeing. It is located an hour and a half from the city of Durango.
For fishing in rivers it is recommended: Acaponeta, Aguanaval, de los Bultos, de la Casita, Chico, Durango, Elota, Florido, Graceros, Huaynamota, Huazamota, Huyapán, Matalotes, Mezquital, Nazas, del Oro, de las Poanas, San Pedro, Valle de Topia, de las Vueltas and Zape.
MAPIMI
The Francisco Zarco Dam is considered a true sport fishing paradise for its huge bass, although you can also catch catfish. It is located one hour and 40 minutes from Mapimí.
In the Lázaro Cárdenas dam, located two hours from Mapimí, you can catch carp, crappie, largemouth bass, ferret and catfish.
