Museo del Ejército y Fuerza Aérea, Convento y Hospital de Betlemitas
The construction of the convent-hospital began in 1676 and became one of the wealthiest hospitals in New Spain.
In 1820, the Courts assembled in Cadiz decreed the suppression of all hospital orders, and the building was divided between the Lancasterian Company and the Military College.
The Museum of the Army is located in what used to be the hospital's church and displays a collection of weapons, uniforms, and video capsules depicting different historical periods.
The different sections include: Warfare practices in pre-Hispanic Mexico, the viceregal army, independence, foreign interventions (1822-1867), the Porfirian army, the revolution, the air force, heraldry, and the modern army.
Each section has a good audio-visual complement.
Location
Filomeno Mata No. 6, Centro Histórico.
