It is the largest natural lake in the country with a surface area of 109,801 hectares and an extension of 78.5 km in length and 20.5 km in its widest part. Its depth varies from 4 to 7 m.
The lake has various towns around it, including the Magical Town of Ajijic and the traditional town of Chapala. They all offer picturesque streets and good lodging services, as well as art galleries and shops that offer the beautiful handicrafts of Jalico and restaurants that have the typical food of the region.
Among the activities you can do is visit Isla de los Alacranes or Isla de Mezcala, walk along the Chapala boardwalk and visit some of its water parks.
