Rocky Point has more than 10 very good quality Trailer Parks, in addition to offering various camping areas.
Some of these places directly face the sea and provide all the required services such as swimming pools, showers, laundry, grocery stores, and some of them even offer restaurants and bars. Some of them are: Playa Bonita, Playa de Oro, Playa Elegante and The Boulders.
The Pinacate Reserve and the Gran Desierto de Altar is a volcanic region and the desert with the greatest biodiversity in America. It has dunes almost 100 m (328 ft) high, unusual creatures and unique plants that offer unique landscapes. There's an excellent, highly informative, solar-powered visitor center, interpretive hiking trails and two campgrounds. Camping is allowed around the edges of the park, but a permit must first be obtained from the visitor center.
Among the best places for camping in the reserve are: El Tecolote (located an hour and a quarter from Rocky Point) in the middle of the El Elegante and El Colorado craters, which has an interpretive trail that leads to the Mayo Crater; and the Red Cone, which is the starting point for one of the most iconic points of the reserve, the El Pinacate volcano.
The best time for camping in this extraordinary place is during the winter months.
