BEACHES IN MICHOACÁN

The Michoacán coasts offer more than ten shipwrecks that can be explored.

The coastal waters also have attractive corals and rich underwater life that can make any dive a true adventure.

Faro de Bucerías (Lighthouse)

It is located very close to Lázaro Cárdenas and offers beautiful beaches that in its southern part have calm waves to practice snorkeling and diving.

On its coasts there are reefs with rich marine life. The islets and rocks that are located on the coast of this beautiful beach are nesting places for seagulls, pelicans, frigates and browns, among other seabirds, and are the best places for diving.

There is a shipwreck covered with corals and interesting rock formations with rich underwater life, it has warm waters and good visibility from 6 to 30 m (20 to 100 ft.).

Pichilinguillo

An authentic marine pool with emerald waters, it is an excellent option for snorkeling or for beginners. In the waters you can easily see clown fish, parrot fish, turtles, octopus, lobsters and starfish.

Zapote de Madero

It has a reef where you can see a strange species of black coral.

Maruata

It is considered a natural sanctuary with beautiful landscapes and gentle waves, it is an ideal place for beginners. Additionally, 45 minutes away you can visit Maruata Viejo, which is a perfectly well-protected small bay that has optimal conditions for snorkeling and diving.

Caleta de Campos

In the cove there is an ex-ship of the Mexican Navy that you can explore at a depth of between 15 and 33 m (50 to 108 ft.).

ZAMORA

Lago de Camécuaro

If you want to experience something different, you can dive in the crystal clear waters of Lake Camécuaro and enjoy the peculiar fauna that inhabits it.

Located near Zamora, it is a place where you can dive and admire the submerged roots that have formed a kind of sculpture, which some of the locals associate with an ancient legend that tells of a Purepecha warrior who fell in love with a priestess while trying to escaped were murdered and since then their spirits have lived in the lake.

In the park there is gear rental. It is located 20 minutes from Zamora.
